Every figure, and where it comes from

Our three rules

1. We publish a number only if we can link to the body that produced it.
2. We use the words the source uses. Healthcare on a health card is subsidised, not free — so we do not call it free.
3. When sources disagree, we show both figures and say why they differ, rather than picking the better-looking one.

What we are still checking

• Whether vaccinations, maternity care and cancer screening carry a charge for health card holders. The published pages describe the programmes but not the price.
• The number of nationalities living in Qatar. The figure of “100” or “150” is widely repeated but we cannot find an official source, so we do not use it.
• Metro fares and station counts, and utility tariffs — the official sites are hard to read automatically, so we check these by hand.
